Meh, IMO these are weak arguments, that the government funded tor and therefore we shouldn''t use it. US government funds a bajillion projects. And then even if that is the problem, what's the alternative? Should I just only use the Tor version on github and compile it myself?

Well sure, but isn't the default instructions of running a bitcoin node behind tor a problem then? Or do i have things wrong? I'm trying to set up my first bitcoin core node to help the network.
