@nprofile…h94j That comparison I had not seen before! But, the early nineties was one of the eras where "realism" was popular, so maybe that's a statement of that time.
Having looked at the rules quite quickly, it looks to be reasonably playable. That's *better* than PC, I think.

@nprofile…h94j yeah, I think T2k is the one most people know of. There was a WW2 line for GURPS 3 as well, but then there's precious few military RPGs.

An odd find. WW2 based rpgs aren't common, and Fasa is a classic so I had to pick this up. First book somewhat affected by mould, but the staples in surprisingly good condition.

I'm reading *The Dispossessed* for the first time. Yeah, I know I'm late to the party...
It's a set of very weird worlds she's portraying in this book. I find the culture on Anarres revolting in it's insularity, and groupthink. At the same time the misogynism expressed by the people on Urras is just as disgusting.
It really isn't a clear cut ideal, any of them. Classic Le Guin making things more complex than you first imagine. She was good.

@nprofile…h94j that reminds me a bit of how the West End Games *Star Wars* game included a scripted dialog to start the scenario.
When you do games where the players get a mission or a task by an organization, I think handing out their mission brief is a very good thing.

Have you reviewed Peter Siebel's book as well? I know it often gets mentioned as the next step up for those that think Touretzky is too basic.
Personally I have always held Touretzky in high reagard for being so clear and expressive.
The lisp community do have a recruitment issue, and while I think it's a social problem, bad introduction texts doesn't exactly help.

@nprofile…de2h yeah, I have been all over those numbers myself, and just shook my head. OTOH I never needed stats for those characters anyway, as none of my player's character would ever fight those iconic figures.

@nprofile…de2h it was always a very iffy subject to try make MERP to map up to the literary sources. I think they reasoning is older character, more Developmen Points, thus higher level. Elves tend to be old...
