Got the texture paste and decals on. Actually got to use some of the largely wasted bigger decals on the sheet, which I won't get next time I order.
There's just this large totally flat space on the torso of the Mad Cat on the original sculpt, and it's great for dropping giant decals on, or freehanding if you're a fucking wizard.

Nail polish absolutely works on minis.
On the other hand, it gums up very quickly and results in a lumpy surface and a definite "thin your fucking paints" look. I do not know how people deal with this on fingernails.
On the gripping hand, if I can get a thinner and retarder, it will become very effective for some rad effects that you just cannot get in acrylics.

Word to the wise: test paint blitzer on your sprue before using it on your plastic. It will eat battletech PlasTech, the first version, but is fine on the 3e and citytech 2e plastics, the ones with the model number on the front. I am now down three potentially salvageable old mechs.

It is actually ridiculous how well Paint Blitzer works. Half an hour in the ultrasonic cleaner in a jar of the stuff and 95% of the paint on a mech comes off, even though the minis are at least 20 years old.

Hardest ride I've had since I maxed out at 19 miles, and it was only my usual 12.7. I finished absolutely drenched, my lungs started angry and got worse, but I managed to do a lot of the ride in 7th gear and sometimes 8th, in spite of the wind.
I should get a shot of the long leg of the trail after the street crossing, it's goddamn beautiful.
Only a week and a half until I move to Saint Louis.
