huh! Great idea! I'll look into that. I already have multiple heaps (they were here before I moved in), so this would be quick and easy to do.

hmm interesting. our compost heap is definitely a chicken magnet. The chickens mostly don't dig all the way down but just move the top layer around.
The difference could be that
a) we use kitchen scraps on the compost, not only garden waste. That's extremely attractive to our chickens, especially if it's not just vegetables but fruit.
b) our whole area is much smaller than yours and the compost is one of the best places to catch protein snacks (bugs, worms)

@npub1sh5…uyrq what's your opinion on combining #compost heaps with free ranging #chickens? Seeing as they influence the worm ecosystem (by eating them), but also help getting oxygen into the pile and add droppings?

wait, an English "we" always includes the listener? Is that what you're saying there?
I thought it's like in my language, German: it's either clear from context who you're referring to as we, or you need to awkwardly clarify.
A very clever thing to disambiguate by having two words.
