@nprofile…qz4x My boss at a startup was upset that I would rinse the coffee cups, dishes in the breakroom sink, and put them in the dishwasher while waiting for my water to boil in the microwave for my tea.
"I'm not paying you to wash dishes." he grumped. He thought the janitorial crew would do this as well as collect the moldy coffee mugs left at engineer's desks in the open plan office. Nope. In the 9 months I was there, they never touched the stuff in the sink or other mugs. I continued to rinse stuff and even bought a CLEAN/DIRTY magnet for the dishwasher. Not one of the Indian TechBro engineers did a thing to help despite my sign over the sink "Your mother doesn't work here. Wash your own dishes."
On my last day, I didn't do any of this. There was a huge pile of unwashed dishes at 5pm, so I took a pic for my Farewell Facebook post. I wonder who they finally got to do that task. Maybe the CEO talked his mother into it when she'd deliver his lunch.

"You really believe that?" she asked shocked.
"Yes, √2, √3, and √5 are all irrational. But √4 resolves to 2, which is rational."
She looked at me funny. Apparently she didn't take Precalculus when she got her teaching degree.

@nprofile…r0kn I'm more annoyed by the fact that I can't delete a message on fedia.io. Someone spammed me and got their account deleted. There's no way to delete it from my inbox.

@nprofile…dyep @nprofile…s0v8 @nprofile…qz4x when I switched from gmail to protonmail, I put in the DNS mail records recommended on their site. However, their recommendation for the _DMARC caused all mail from me to be flagged as SPAM until someone here on Mastodon told me how to change the record so that wouldn't happen. So far, that's worked. Check out this article

@nprofile…qz4x as a rule, Google and their cloud service don't do much to take down users that use their services to spamvertise. Used to be that Bluehost and GoDaddy would trounce spammers because they made a lovely squishy sound when you step on them, like tribbles. Enshitification has made them scale that back.
I continue to report Google and Microsoft source SPAM but it's like pissing in the wind. And I don't bother Opting-out. It just validates my email as active.

@nprofile…p3wf @nprofile…qz4x It's ironic that Boing Boing, Corey's creation is now entering end-stage enshitification. They've started requiring Adblockers to be disabled to view their site or pay $5/mo for the privilege. It probably started when Boing Boing started using Stack Commerce, really dodgy ecommerce provider, who offered questionable merch like a "private airconditioner" or that $40 128GB SSD drive that was really two thumb drives glued together internally. "All sales final. No returns or refunds." which my credit card company laughed at. Maybe now VISA and Mastercard will stop accepting charges from them.

@npub1psd…9sr7 If you really wanna piss of @npub1ept…jcl3, challenge him on writing in Word. I once suggested Scrivner and he got all bent out of shape.
Back in the 80s, Larry Niven and other L.A.-based SF writers went on and on about their "electric pencil files" which they used with their daisywheel printers on their CPM machines. They got great copy but god help them if they every have to dig up the old stuff from the garage.
I've stopped talking to authors about their process. Whatever they want to talk about on Con panel is fine but it's seems like a personal question like "Boxers or briefs?"
Of course the techie version that question is "vi or emacs?"
