Is there a Youtube-frontend which does away with the thumbnails? There are plenty of #Youtube creators I like and follow, but this "surprised face clickbait-title" thumbnail they're force to use because of the algorithm drives me nuts and sometimes makes me not click the videos.
Have premium*. No need to circumvent ads and stuff.

I feel way too few casual admins realize this. As soon as you're setting up a servers for others you're basically taking on _a job_. If you don't see yourself having the time and energy to work that job for the foreseeable future then ... please don't.

@npub15zu…s7lx Yeah I think this is how interglacials usually end. While we've affected it this time, it fits with one of the explanations on how interglacials end. The warm climate during 10-12000 years finally cause the Greenland ice to melt enough to disrupt the AMOC and the ice starts spreading again from the north.

@npub1cmg…rzd2 As a right-economic libertarian I feel you :) As soon as I've typed that out I think a lot of people who conflate that with rich US assholes will block me.
But I'm Swedish. I'm an ally, believe in social safety nets, as a people manager I fought for my employees etc.
So, I do as you do. I run my own instance and simply don't care about those who don't want to understand.

@npub15zu…s7lx Absolutely everything mentioned in the article is despicable - and I hope he wins.
What I don't like is that he _did_ misrepresent science with the hockeystick (splicing data points from two sources with different resolution together without indicating what had been done). That, however, should only ever have been critizised using other scientific publications.

Physics tells us that something that's highly radioactive is that only for a short amount of time (think hundreds of years) while something that's radioactive for a long time isn't very dangerous (when talking about 100000 of years that's the same radioactivity as living in Denver)
Somewhere we stopped listening to science when it comes to nuclear energy - while we're adamant about listening to the science with regards to climate change.
We don't even need to bury spent nuclear fuel. 95% of the energy content is still there (just unused in most of the current reactors) - just store it on site until we decide to use it all.

Nuclear + solar is what solves climate change.

@npub1xl5…wsca As one of the developers of the software running on the P800 this post made me very happy! :D
I held a presentation in the Netherlands in 2009 (I believe it was at the conference "Open Source in Mobile") and afterwards one of the attendees came up to me and said: "Did you know Steve Jobs held up the P800 internally at Apple and said 'this is the future of Mobile'?"
I cannot vouch for the authenticity of what the person said, only that they said it though. But yeah, internally we all removed the keyboard and used it exactly like we use today's smartphones.

I går var det planerat strömavbrott här. Eftersom jag ändå inte kunde jobba (sitter 100% remote med VPN in till arbetsdatorn) passade jag på att göra lite elektriskt sladdragningsarbete.
Plötsligt behövde jag borra - och den batteridrivna borren befinner sig i ett helt annat hus någon mil bort.
Så nu vet jag en sak till man kan använda en kompetent (riktig sinus) UPS till förutom servern :D

Something seems off with the wordpress.com ActivityPub integration. When I (and others) check my blog profile (@npub1k6q…68qh) on Mastodon, while it displays, there's also a brief error 500 popping up. That seems to then mean that it's not possible to read/comment on the blog.
The FediFetcher script also reports errors when trying to fetch posts from the wordpress.com profiles:

@npub1cmg…rzd2 I previously worked for Sony (Ericsson -> Mobile -> Corp) and used Android from the very beginning until 2018 when I switched to another employer. I've used iPhone since - and the only thing I missed was being able to automatically record my calls. However, afaik that's no longer possible on Android either I think so now that might be moot.
