When I was a Comcast customer, they spammed me relentlessly and the unsub feature simply did not work at all. I called their phone support and they had no clue. One agent told me to fwd them to Comcast's own abuse@ email.

Arcade games: insert coin coin, push start, play.
1980s console games: Insert cart, turn on, push start, play.
1990s console games: Insert CD, turn on, wait for loading, push start, play.
2010s console games: Turn on, launch game, push start, mash button through eight minutes of unskippable dialog, play two minutes, mash button through two minutes of unskippable dialog, repeat.
2020s console games: Turn on, get prompted for system update. Ignore it and launch game. Have the game tell you it won't run without the system update. Update the system, which takes five minutes. Wait for console to reboot. Launch game. Have the game tell you it won't run without a game update. Install game update, which takes eight minutes and closes the game. Launch game for the third time, get inexplicable message about some other update, which vanishes before you can do anything. Push start. Get accosted with an overwhelming number of achievements, some which trigger unskippable cutscenes you don't care about. Notice a "+ to skip" button. Push plus, and note that it does not skip anything, merely fast forwards the unskippable cutscene. Repeat achievement/cutscene loop for several minutes. Finally get to the first in-game menu. Select the thing you want. Get a notice that it has to download "previews" for game content. Cancel the download. Select the thing, several levels deep in the menu. - I've been riding off and on for decades, including multiple stints of all-weather bike or bike+bus commuting for years at a time.
- It's summer.
- A change in medication has me feeling more motivated and energetic than I have in ages.
- My dad's been a bike nut as long as I can remember and lives in my backyard now.

#pdx friends: would you like, or do you know someone who'd like, a free bicycle? My dad bought this one for $50 just to get the fenders it came with, and would like to find it a new home.
It's a Schwinn Varsity Sport, 21" step-through frame, built in January 1973. This was a daily rider from the previous owner, and dad did some minor maintenance work — it's ready to ride.

I've seen *a lot* of C64 demos, and 13:37 by Fairlight knocked my socks off. I was consistently hollering "duuuude!" at the effects, but it's also got great humor, a terrific art style, inside jokes, and cinematic storytelling. One of the best I've ever seen.
The #C64 demoscene is so impressive to me. They just keep pushing this machine farther and farther. This demo would have been unfathomable even ten years ago.

If Apple, Google, and Microsoft didn't have entrenched platform monopolies, garbage like the Microsoft "AI" spyware likely wouldn't even get built. The market doesn't want what they're selling, but users have no choice but to take whatever abuse the vendors heap upon them, because they can't easily switch to a better product.
And they have monopolies because the US government won't enforce antitrust laws. All technology is political.
(Don't "Linux" me, I've been running it longer than you've probably been alive, I know what it can and cannot do.)

I have some FLAC files of The Hitchhiker's Guide radio series. These are ripped directly from my CDs, which have the episodes broken into multiple tracks.
I want one FLAC per episode, *but* I also want the track splits to be chapter stops within that.
Is there a tool out there that does this already, or do I get to write one?
Concatenating *without* adding chapter stops / metadata is trivial, and I know how to do that already.
