I've seen something similar. Students may find each other on Discord but there isn't the same opportunity for connecting with senior colleagues as there was on Twitter (or, lest we forget, _mailing lists_!)

I came across a review of a recently-released live recording that discussed the mid-1990s as a kind of "lost" period because the band couldn't re-create some of the sounds without the stolen gear-- it had been so thoroughly modified as to be irreplaceable!
