Wow ! Just for the fun of it I decided to download the latest build of #GhostBSD to see how my #ThinkPad P14s #AMD Ryzen 7 would fair. Last time I tried the AX200 WiFi kept crashing my laptop. This time around it works albeit very slowly. I get 9Mbps by 4Mbps on my 1G fibre connection. Hey it's progress and who knows one day I may go full on BSD ?

Just got #Eww working as my bar on dual screen using #River-bedload to get the active and focused tags for my workspace script. I also made a start script that basically checks if I have just my laptop screen or my external HDMI screen connected then sets up the bars and their active and focused tags. The start script is also called by my #Kanshi config for when I unplug or plug my screen in.
So far it seems to be working rather well, I'm kind of chuffed with my achievements but there is always room for improvement.

Hmm discovered that #Qutebrowser crashes if I have it on my external monitor and unplug that monitor. I use Kanshi to switch profiles from docked to laptop and Qutebrowser moves to the laptop screen ok. But when I reconnect the external monitor Qutebrowser fataly crashes. I've sent a crash report and I've confirmed that other windows open say foot remain under the same circumstances. 🤔

This may be stupid in your eyes but I'm considering spinning up a #ChimeraLinux based server for my expanding home network where I'll most likely host my Git repo. I'm thinking of either #Forgejo as it might be packaged soon or #SRHT ? Obviously it'll be running on #ZFS and of course I'll be running other things too. Just at the research stage to see what I can pull off and how viable it'll be. I don't mind housekeeping and backups so it'll be other stuff that catches me out more than likely.

I'm starting to think that 1Tb quota on our #FTTP line possibly won't be enough for the month as in 4 days we've used approx 120Gb. I've still not even spun up any new servers that's just browsing, distro updates and streaming shows. I may have to upgrade to the 10Tb quota that @npub1sv0…rq9x provide. Now I've got my #FTTP connection running at max I better start getting the move sorted. All our home networking stuff has been in an upstairs cupboard for a good while. But I'm gutting one of the spare rooms putting in new carpet and giving it a lick of paint. I will move my desks in with PC setup and the thinking sofa. I also ordered a 19" 12U server cabinet to house all the network equipment and servers. I have cat7+ cables ran all around the property and yes I could have run fibre but that's for another project as Julie would probably murder me if I invest in too much tech gear at once. I must say though getting to buy and do all this is like Christmas for me LOL.

Originally on my PC Engines router with #OpenWRT installed I was getting 560 by 100 but I discovered the packet steering option and enabled it as some folk said YMMV. Well I'm glad to say I've doubled my download speed. I'm well happy ! 😂

So I think I have all my routing issues resolved re servers and UniFi WiFi . I have a wee small issue where I have an extra wan6 interface that fails but I think that can be removed as the wan_6 is up providing ipv6. Checking I have both ipv4 and ipv6 up and running. So the bogus wan6 interface that just fails might require deleting.
Speed wise using this PC Engines APU4 on @npub1sv0…rq9x I'm getting max 560Mb by 100Mb on a 1Gb by 110Mb service.
Not sure if it'll get faster in the coming days or my router is the bottle neck ? Time will tell I suppose but it sure beats my old VDSL 30/3Mb connection which is getting terminated tomorrow hopefully.

Having one of those days. Just changed a KA VSAT dome on a vessels internet as it wouldn't search or track the satellite due to a GNSS velocity error which indicates a faulty GPS module or PCU in the dome.
So got the dome swapped with a tested replacement and tried to set it back up only to get the exact same error. Turns out one of the vessels other GPS antennas used for the navigational equipment had gone bad and was radiating RF killing the VSAT domes internal GPS.
So had to run in a new GPS antenna too.
All fixed now though and time for lunch. 🙄

If this PC Engines APU4D4 doesn't work out for my 1GB #FTTP pppoe wan connection then I'm going to throw some money at an mini router PC that has a beefy CPU say i3 or up with 4 x 2.5Gb Ethernet ports. I don't need WiFI just something that'll be future proof for a while and can handle firewalls and other such additions with ease. I'd like to run #OpenWRT to start with but may progress who knows ?
So #Fediverse do you have any recommendations for me that pass 1Gb or more with ease ?

Still tinkering with my #ChimeraLinux setup. I've made a clone of #Yambar using #Eww simply because with Eww I can update variables on the fly on the bar whereas say with Yambar in my updates indicator once the updates are done I have no way of resetting that value to 0 other than killing and restarting Yambar. In Eww I can do it on the fly also I can toggle bars individually on and off. It's basically a clone of my setup so far and I am getting the #RiverWM workspace info for my Eww bar using this fabulous utility river-bedload by novakane.
Still not happy with the yuck.scss stuff but I'll get there and it's 100% usable. I've not ditched Yambar I'm merely tinkering because I can and idle hands and so on. 😂

I've had a similar experience as I too have recently switched from Neovim to #HelixEditor and can say that the only plugin I really miss but can work without is [nvim-colorizer](https://github.com/norcalli/nvim-colorizer.lua )
Things like Alpha and Nvim-Tree are not required and were showy anyway. I mean I use lf to go through files and open them in Helix. Overall my experience has been great.

Recently Plus Net has removed all of the once amazing user tools as I discovered when I logged in today for the first time in years. Also there's rumour of them merging or being swallowed with EE so things would only go downhill from there.
