My younger kid has been spending the past few weeks flying through the #Kirby platformer games, mostly in reverse order. They started with Kirby's Epic Yarn (#Wii), jumped to Kirby: Planet Robobot, then Kirby: Triple Deluxe (#3DS), and now are persevering through Kirby's Return to Dreamland (Wii again).
Kirby's Epic Yarn being the exception, I find the Kirby games became increasingly beginner-friendly as time went on. They never stopped being fun for experienced players, though. Neat trick.

@nprofile…pp8p Something I have run into when playing Gamecube games on other systems (Dolphin emulator, Wii U): the L and R shoulder buttons on the Gamecube controller are analog. That's not common any more, as far as I can tell. It makes for a glaring difference if you try and play a game that's expecting analog shoulder buttons, but your controller doesn't have them.
I know that new Gamecube-style controllers are available for the Switch (and will be for the Switch 2), but that's yet another expense.

I finally have a joystick for my Apple IIgs. It was USD 10,- off of eBay, "untested" but looked intact? Arrived in today's post. I'm going to clean it up, open it up, and see whether anything inside looks dodgy. Want to make sure nothing looks suspicious before I connect it to the computer.
Does anyone know of a joystick test/calibration program for Apple II computers?

@nprofile…n7a3 Even for watching a movie or a show, that much lag would be noticeable and irritating. What a terrible way to sabotage a good panel.

@nprofile…t9cc If you want to replace the clear plastic covering over the screen, search for a "Game Boy Advance lens" on eBay or Amazon or your preferred shopping site. That's a pretty easy replacement, and it'll run you less than $10.
