At the end of the day, I can decide not to update Core or just run Knots. But that doesn’t fix the core issue: I no longer trust the people steering the ship. So here’s the question: do Core devs honestly believe the average Bitcoiner still trusts them enough to guard their life savings and more importantly, their freedom? I don’t think so.
But here’s the most alarming part: I have a feeling they don’t give a single fuck. One of them even said, “I’m a lawyer but not your lawyer.” What the fuck does that mean? They probably think since average Bitcoin users aren’t funding them, they don’t matter. As if we, the hodlers and node runners, aren’t relevant.

saw a comment on twitter can’t remember who but they were saying if you take bitcoin seriously you shouldn’t run your node on umbrel. honestly that’s such a sick mindset. we should be encouraging ppl to run any node, not gatekeeping based on some hardcore setup. umbrel (or similar platforms) lower the barrier and make self sovereignty more accessible.
we need more people running nodes, period. not fewer. shaming someone for how they do it just pushes them away. you don’t build a strong network by flexing your configs, you build it by helping others opt in.
it’s also a great thing ppl are finally questioning bitcoin core’s monopoly. over 90% of nodes run core. that’s not healthy. too much of anything in one place makes the whole system fragile. if we care about making bitcoin more resilient and future proof, we need more implementations and balance.

I'll probably be the bad guy for saying this, but nostr's problem isn't discovery. we have 18k daily active users, god damn it. the real issue is bringing in new users and actually keeping them. im attaching two charts for reference: daily active and 30-day retention %.
when we start getting 20–30k new active users every day and actually keep them in the platform, follow packs might make sense. but right now you're trying to solve a future problem that doesn’t even exist yet.

As much as i love bitaxe, nano 3s is the best option right now in terms of cost/th ratio if you’re interested in a small miner. This runs at 6 th/s and the price is about $300. I also ordered avalon mini 3 recently which runs at 35 th/s and thr price is about $1000 bucks.

I’m not sure why some bitcoiners are so opposed to the idea of stablecoins coexisting with bitcoin. The idea that we’ll suddenly transition from fiat to a pure Bitcoin economy overnight is a fantasy. Real adoption happens in steps and stablecoins are part of that bridge.

everyone’s saying “nostr can’t win by being a twitter clone”. fine! but no one ever goes on to say what that actually means. so let’s talk.
maybe it means:
-built-in value flow (zaps) isn’t a feature, it’s the core.
- identity that you own, not a username some corporation grants you permission to use.
- open algorithms. not just a single feed, but infinite feeds you get to choose from.
-censorship resistance by design, not a cheap PR talk.
- clients who don’t pursue ad dollars, but represent you.
nostr doesn’t need to reimagine what “posting” means, but it must reframe the rules, the incentives, and who’s at the helm.
now the real question: how do we discuss that? how do we market something this different and unique?
- don’t say “it’s like twitter but decentralized”. that’s weak and does it a disservice.
- feature real stories: creators supporting themselves, devs creating crazy new clients, people connecting without intermediaries.
- if nostr stays as the curated bitcoin community in people’s mind, it will not win.
- make the strangeness and weirdness a feature. lean into the notion that this isn’t for everybody (yet), but it’s for you.
- design onboarding that’s like joining a movement, not just another app.
- let the community be the brand: open, messy, weird and real.
