I think it really comes down to their technical competency and willingness to learn.
Bitkey has a great UX for newcomers, but isn’t ideal when it comes to UTxO management. They have some pretty compelling recovery features also, and don’t require a seed phrase. However, there may be privacy implications depending on Block’s infrastructure setup.
Coldcard or Passport offer a more traditional experience, but definitely require a steeper learning curve.

users, developers and miners should each take a low time preference approach and be principled in whatever capacity in which they interact with the Bitcoin network and each other.
from my perspective, the activity we are observing degrades the availability of blockspace and adversely impacts transaction throughput. this results in a higher cost to transact, take bitcoin into self-custody and interact with lightning in a non-custodial manner, constituting a Denial of Service (DoS) attack.

Synology if you want easy mode (and SHR is great for expanding disks over time).
TrueNAS scale if you’re comfortable building a server and forgoing a bit of flexibility with the storage pool, with the benefit of some great open source functionality.
TrueNAS would end up being cheaper, but it’s worth looking into SHR in my opinion before making a decision.

It’s almost never a good idea to use a wifi router. Could you run a router and a separate wireless access point?

Debian is my preferred distro.
Install from server and add a DE.
No corporate nonsense, very wide software support, upstream of Ubuntu and Mint, stable, and non-free firmware now works out of the box.
The only reason not to run it is if you're a developer, for everyone else there is Flatpak and AppImage.

They're a small MVNO who offer unlimited 4G data capped at 20Mbps for $40, and plant a tree 🌱 for each month you stay connected.
Obviously the network coverage isn't as good as Telstra, but the unlimited data and affordability make it a pretty compelling option.

They are both emerging networks with a different user base.
As the Nostr quickly gained popularity amongst Bitcoiners, there are larger percentage of users here who share common interests.
Due to the changes made by Elon, the consensus on Bluesky is that Twitter is now a right-wing platform. Accordingly, it is being more heavily adopted by those on the left.
I suspect this will change over time, but not until both protocols gain greater adoption.

- mempool.space used as the default explorer
- bech32 addresses by default
- Hardware device is required to enable / modify the spending limit that can be done using phone app only (maximum $200/day)

- 'Slow' correctly estimated the current 3 sat/vB rate

Notes on the Bitkey:
- Easiest setup experience of any wallet I've used
- Hardware feels really solid, nice build quality
- 2/3 multisig with no seed phrase
- Mobile app and server key can authorise small transactions (dollar amount is user configurable)
- Mobile app and hardware device is required to authorise larger transactions
- Email is required during setup to facilitate recovery if mobile phone / hardware device is lost
- Phone number is optional (from memory)
- Can integrate Cash App / Coinbase for direct purchases to the wallet
- Block can see your transaction data
The app / hardware device is still in beta, however the simplicity of the setup process is near perfect.
While most of us will still prefer a Coldcard, Passport or Jade, those devices aren't for everyone.
I suspect Block will advertise via Cash App and sell a ridiculous amount of these devices, which is great for self-custody but comes at the expense of privacy.
Most importantly, this is not a wallet for your KYC-free corn.
