Last night my Mom's friends were going through, and boxing up her craft stuff to take. My emotions are so mixed. Growing up both of my parents were hoarders, we always had a messy house with stuffed crammed everywhere. After my Dad passed, I worked hard to cut the clutter, and have a nicer place to live, but the enormous amount of craft stuff never really went away, and kept getting added to. It's strange now that I'm watching it slowly being taken away I feel both enormous relief, and a deep sadness watching all the stuff slowly disappear. This is what my Mom asked me to do with it many times, and I'm happy to get rid of it, but at the same time, it feels a little like I'm erasing her, even though there's many things I've kept to remind me of her. How do you deal with what's left?

Context is important. I see people saying Agriculture destroyed the world all the time, as if this one component is the singular issue. Are there issues with it, certainly, I agree with that, but there's this idea that if we go back to some kind of Hunter Gatherer Society we will all be happier and healthier, when in reality we would most likely just be dead. I don't know, maybe you want to go trekking in the woods any time you get hungry, but I like making a sandwich. The reality is everything is much much more complex than we think. I never realized how much of my life revolved around my Mom. The empty space where she used to be is so present. I feel like I'm doing something wrong, not getting her up and ready. I'm in the grocery store, and see a coffee I'd think she'd like, and remember she's not there to drink it anymore. I've worked so hard taking care of other people for so long, I'm struggling on how to take care of myself. I know it's fresh, and I know one day soon, I'll appreciate the increased freedom more, but right now, all I can see is the empty space where she used to be. And the truth is, I don't want to feel better, and just get over it, I want to let the feelings work through me. They aren't bad, they are part of life, because death is a part of life, and people deserve to be grieved. I deserve to have the feelings I'm having, whatever they are.

I saw Inside Out 2 last night. I really enjoyed it, but I noticed something. Riley's parent's emotions had all settled into the sex that they presented as, whereas Riley had emotions that presented as male, female, and non-binary. Whenever I see "art" like this I always have to zoom in, and make sure it's AI, because the thought of an artist actually putting in effort for something like this gives me indigestion.
