I recently got on to Heather, an evolutionary biologist, in the above video.
Okay, I'm having a slight difficulty with this. Did we ever state that equality was exactly equal? What's the correct rad-fem analysis? Help me here.
I do recall feminists trying at one point for "parity" too. For example, let's say almost all the nurses are female; almost all the pharmacy assistants are male. The males are making lots more money for a job that is on par with nursing. Let's fix this.
I guess the issue might really be who is at the top. If there are more men in the math department at the top, does this matter? If there are more women in the english department at the top?
And so what? Feminism is about women's lives. Let's say that men and women are massively overlapping populations with somewhat different distributions of average traits. What does that say about individuals and their lives?
On the other hand, just because something is statistical and fuzzy, doesn't mean it's not real.
On the other hand, I fear that, if the differences between men and women are biologically based and immutable, that would freeze into place certain differences in the opportunity structure for men and women.
On the other hand, what if math is taught in some way that men really enjoy and women can't learn in? Say it's all shouty and assholey math teaching and women don't like that? Ha!

ICC doesn't have jurisdiction and didn't not allow Israel to conduct their own investigation. The facts before that court are seriously in dispute.
Genocide, apartheid, proportionality and so on - that's called "lawfare" - legal terms being to bandied about in an attempt to sway international opinion, which the media picks up and unthinkingly reports to those millions of people you referenced earlier!

I think you provided this letter before, and I already commented some time ago. I said something like it's compelling but where's the food, medicine and other necessities of life provided by Israel going? Starts with an H.
You lost me on the first post.
"Children are universally considered innocents in armed conflict." Really? Aren't they innocent all the time? These platitudes aren't helping make the argument.
Yes, the type of warfare that Israeli has been forced to engage in is called urban, destruction warfare. But still they exercise proportionality, hold back (attrition,) give warning, conduct evacuations.

My grade ten english teacher taught me that, if you're overly dogmatic, you tend to lose people in your argument.
Arguably, the biggest problem in this war is that the media never states that certain info and images haven't been verified by them as they are forced to rely only on Hamas info/images.

Well... I finally saw Incendies. I saw a recommendation here on Spinster. Heavy film. Apparently, I'm trying to give myself a nervous breakdown or something because I intend on watching Polytechnique soon. I was trying to listen with my now elementary French, but the film was so hard I just had to turn on the subtitles. The feel of the film was so real.

They should talk! Egypt condemns Israel. Ha! Why is no one mentioning Egypt's duty and failure to open up to Gaza's refugees? Anyone? No? Not one word? There is an African agreement that requires them to do so. Refugee is defined very broadly. Before anyone says so, no no no, it doesn't require Egypt to sign them up as citizens, feed them, etc.
Unrwa takes care of Gaza education, inter alia, which indoctrinates children with concepts like:

On a separate note,
Hamas incentivizes its members, paying more money for more jews killed.

❤️ Many Brits here. When it's so easy to be mad at government... some vagaries of being a Canadian tourist in England.
It's been quite some time since I've traveled. (Of course, it'll be another four years of not travelling to the states). But England? It's the only place I visited twice.
I was with my fiancé the first time, as newlyweds the second. Our love was flourishing. Divorced now, but we'll always have Cricket. And London too.
I was never more beautiful than in these photographs. When a woman is at that certain age. I realize now a lot was the rapport between the photographer and the subject. The ICC issues arrest warrants, and the media gives not even a clue that there might be any legal objections.
Attached is the submission of the UK Lawyers for Israel, et al to the ICC re the situation in the alleged state of Palestine.
There are jurisdiction / complementary issues.
Clearly, the facts are in dispute.
What isn't in the submission is that the ICC at the same time issued an arrest warrant for an Hamas member who is dead! For three weeks! It's an hilarious attempt at "balance" to arrest Hamas and Israel at the same time - as if that could ever be balanced, one being a terrorist group and one being the only democracy in the Middle East.

Well, there was a problem from the outset. I think the last resort issue should have been legislated or mandated or something from the outset.
Then, more and more safeguards are being eliminated based on Charter challenges.
It's turning into a proper nightmare.
Anyone from the Netherlands here have anything to add? I'd love to hear it from the horse's mouth.

Canada's Day of Truth and Reconciliation recently passed; Indigenous People's Day is coming soon for the states. I was thinking about these days and the war in Gaza, and it brought to mind that the Jews of Israel are as a much the indigenous population of the land encompassing Jerusalem as any other indigenous population in the entire world.
The Arabs, who came into the Holy Land seven centuries AFTER the destruction of the second Temple by the Romans in 70 CE, are the colonialists. People who harp on colonialism and identify the Palestinians as the indigenous people and the Jews as colonials have it backward. If you’re going to go on and on about colonialism, get your knowledge of colonialism correct!
When Israel was created by the UN in 1948, the original proposal was essentially what is called (today) the two-state solution – but the Arabs rejected it. Hence the war of independence. The aftermath was an exchange of refugees: Jews fleeing Arab countries, and Arabs moving from Israel to the surrounding countries. The Jewish refugees were absorbed into the new state; the Arab refugees were put in camps, where they remain today.
Much of the present anti-Israel rhetoric implies that the Israelis are “white” and the Palestinians of “people of colour.” So the Zionism is another form of “white supremacy” so the rhetoric goes. As you may know, a parallel with South Africa is a common trope.
But nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, Israel is one of the world’s most multiethnic countries on the planet. About half of the Jews descended or immigrated directly from the Arab countries, from which they fled or were expelled. Far more Jews have immigrated to Israel from Morocco, Iran, and Iraq (the Sephardim) than from Germany, France, and Hungary (the Ashkenazi.) I note that Palestinians are also diverse and exhibit a range of skin colour.
