You must excuse me, I explained myself badly. Of course I didn't mean the classic private subnets :-) (10.0.0.0/8, 172.16.0.0/12, 192.168.0.0/16).
Surely IPV6 will be the future, but apart from the change there is still no global coordination for this, and even here the responsible entities are not moving.
PS: I can't wait to have to remember a 128-bit address that adds letters to the whole thing :-P

It is my personal opinion that despite the problem of IPV4 exhaustion, ICANN and the various bodies in charge have not moved much over the years. Although they cannot force anyone, they could have started an energetic awareness campaign, especially towards those big corporations that hold millions of unused IPV4 (they do not have all these devices).
Not to mention that they could free up several million IPs by reviewing the famous "reserved" subnets, such as the famous 127.0. 0.0/8 (16'777'216) only for the internal loopback :-/ or the 240.0. 0.0/4 (268'435'455!) declared "for future uses"
It certainly would not solve the problem in the long term but at least they would have some breathing room.

I see, I installed it tonight in a VM, very positive first impression, it's been a while since I used Matè, being a Slacker I've been used to KDE for years, which remains my favorite DE.
My first real interaction with FreeBSD is with my OpnSense-based firewall, same installation for 9 years without ever disappointing me.
PS: Nice website, a rare Plan9 user :-) Speaking of particular OS, I'm dabbling with HaikuOS

having always been for most of my life a Slackware user i find myself more in tune with BSD like than other Linux like.
