Dopo aver postato ho notato due piccoli problemi:
1. #Raccoon mostra la timeline pubblica del profilo (che sulla mia istanza #snac2 contiene solo i miei post) invece di quella privata
2. La modalità esplorazione, che permette di visualizzare i contenuti pubblici di un istanza senza account, smette di funzionare quando ti autentichi (perché vedi solo il contenuto della tua istanza).
In particolare il 2, più che un propriamente un bug, ma una feature che favorisce involontariamente le istanze più grandi: se potessi continuare a esplorare in modalità anonima più feed di grandi istanze (di tua scelta) compatibili con le api di #Friendica e #Mastodon, per poi interagirvi tramite il tuo account su un'istanza piccola come la mia, Raccoon diventerebbe ragionevolmente il miglior client possibile per piccole istanze, in particolare se la ricerca interrogasse (su richiesta) anche tali istanze.

In questi casi è utile ricordare che registrare una conversazione cui si partecipa per solo scopo di pro-memoria personale è legale e non necessita dell'autorizzazione degli altri partecipanti.
Naturalmente, in caso la registrazione contenga (come credo in questo caso) prove di un reato, tale registrazione deve essere fornita al tribunale del lavoro competente.

A bit of a naive take: #GitHub is not protecting its servers and repositories from #AI scrapers: they are just trying to exclude competitors' scrapers from accessing the code they host.
It's a plain anticompetitive op: they just want their own #LLM to have an edge by accessing #OpenSource repos from the behind.

Ha funzionato esattamente come previsto e non escluderei che qualcuno in questo momento stia ricevendo una promozione per averlo "migliorato" di recente.

It's not much about thinking that people who tried before were demented, but about knowing, as we both know, that each programming language had certain goals in mind and certain constraints to work within.
Given that programming is usually seen as a profession (and an engineering one), instead of a human right, I think it's reasonable to assume that very few programming languages were designed to pursuit a political goal.
Many educational "toy" languages, for example, are fun to learn and may help some kids to discover a passion for programming, but cannot be used for building serious softwares, such as an operating system, an editor, a browser or whatever.
As a conseguence such kids cannot develop a demand for programs they can fully understand and modify, and they becomes useds as adult.
The best attempts at viable simplicity I know about are Wirth's #Oberon system and language, that basically conflated user and programmer, were a step in the right direction.
In my head I'd like to improve from there with simpler semantics (no heap memory, no record extensibility, total functions, cantor set theory for types...), but when I try to, I end writing example programs full of symbols instead of readable keywords.
I get what you say about the need of rigour yet flexible semantics.
And maybe you are even right.
But if you are not?
What if a powerful language with a readable syntax and simple semantics that every adult could understand could exist...but nobody ever try to create it?

Why people design a new #ProgrammingLanguage?There are tons of good reasons of course. Some does that for fun or for curiosity, some for political or educational reasons, some to address shortcomings faced with existing one, either in specific use case or in general.
To me, at least at the conscious level, it's completely a political issue.
I see how programming is a new political force (so much that I actively used it to fight #BigTech in Italy) and I see how people who cannot read (aka #debug) or write (aka #programing), are doomed to becomes second class citizens in a #cybernetic society.
I don't want this to happen to my daughters, so I want to teach them how to program and debug.
BUT mainstream programming languages are weird, full of accidental complexity and with over-complicated semantics.
As a nerd who can programs in most of them, I tend to get fun in the abstractions and details of, say, a #Haskell or an homoiconic macro in a #Lisp.
But while they are fun to a person grown (and selected to fit) within such a primitive computing environment, they are inheritely excluding people who cannot spend decades to grasp their subtle intricacies.
And how you can teach such languages to kids?
Sure they can learn and understand any programming language construct way better of an average adult, but at a first glance all they will only see is glibberish!
And while some will be fascinated by such esoteric language that can be used to create games, worlds and agents that serve their will (just like I was when I was a kid), most will find that complicated and thus boring.
On the other hand a language that is explicit and with simple semantics (such as say #Oberon) will seem verbose and boring to a professional programmer.
I love the simple clarity of a #snake implementation like this https://github.com/tmartiro/voc-snake/blob/main/Snake.Mod whose complexity is almost just the complexity of the task at hand.
And while I see little improvements I could add to such language to further simplify it's syntax and semantics, when I try to do so, I end with something that is less readable than the original, despite syntax and semantics being simpler (as in less rules and no exceptions or incoherence).
It was pointed out by @nprofile…r65h: while I want to make the language easy to read and simple to understand, I subconsciously try to address the issues I faced in my ~25 years as a polyglot programmer.
And apparently I can't resist such impulse, like if I cannot escape my experience.
It's sad.
It makes me think of how the phonetic alphabet was invented by people who cannot read or write but were exposed to hierogliphs, and think that creating a democratic programming language is beyond my ability because of how my mind has been blent from the existing one.

Però @nprofile…4ga8, volatilità o meno, il VC è rischioso per definizione.
Come asset class, complessivamente, sarà anche meno volatile della singola azienda ma gode di ritorni straordinari su unicorni che non puoi identificare a priori.
Dunque qualsiasi fondo reale, che pure cerchi di diversificare, avrà rendimenti, rischi e volatilità diversi da quelli della asset class.

Intelligence and national security is something completely different, that target specific individuals (still granting them human rights).

#USA have been a threat to external democracies since the WWII.

As times go on, #Linux kernel and distributions are degrading.
Including, sadly, my first and only one, #Debian that I used daily since I mamage to configure XFree86 on Potato, when I was ~16 yo (if I remember correctly).
For a year now I was looking (without much time to invest) for a #BSD to try.
Today I think I've found the best candidate with @mirabilos@toot.mirbsd.org's #MirBSD after I've read the Rationale of http://www.mirbsd.org/MirOS-Licence.htm
Back then Debian got my attention because of the values they declared, freedom and sharing.
Unfortunately over the years they were escalated and slowly corrupted, reduced to formal adherence to a social contract that can be subverted in practice.
The whole #FreeSoftware movement has been marginalized, while its values are strumentalized to fool users' trust.
Even #FSF is laying behind with #copyleft licenses full of loopholes exploited by #SaaSS and #AI corporations.
It's time to move on, and a small BSD developed by a passionate #hacker might be a good new starting point.

Interesting collection of facts, but I think most of the apparent contraddictions disappear if you consider #copyright as a tool and culture/knowledge as the good contended in the war.
You can easily place all actors in this war along a line between two poles: those who want to maximize public elaboration of knowledge/culture (through the public discourse and content exchange) and those who want seize/control the knowledge/culture available (controlling the public discourse and content exchange).
This way you can see how both #BigTech and the publishing industry are on the same side, share the same values and are more then happy to sign contracts with each other, as long as they can raise the respective profits.
On the other side you see developers who adopt #copyleft (that is based on copyright) and people serious on moral rights even when they adopt permissive licenses, together with people who just want to read books or see films for free.
To both groups copyright is a tool or an issue depending on the particular goal they are pursuing in a given moment.
#Meta want to control knowledge and culture, so it downplay copyright when it train its #AI models, but it enforce it when it release them under non-competition license agreements.
A hacker might workaround a flawed #DRM protection while releasing the code under a strong copyleft.
A teacher might avoid copyrighted materials while teching to students the skills required to workaround DRM.
Tons of combinations of interests exist that make people and organizations moving between these poles.
Yet all gravitate along these two poles.
With this framing another apparent issue becomes simple to explain: all corporations want to retain as much control as possible over their own cultural artifacts (been them software, contents or whatever) while they are eagger to use/abuse those of everybody else (including competitors).
Framing the war just in term of copyright maximalism/minimalism hide such important detail that in turn explain why many creators react to corporate abuse requiring stricter copyright protection, stricter moral rights and so on.
It can also explain why #Google, #Microsoft, #Meta and #Amazon sponsor #OSI (#OpenSource Initiative who recently released the #OpenWashing #AI definition #OSAID) and #CreativeCommons.
In short, its not a war about copyright: copyright is just a weapon in that war, just like crawlers or suggestion algorithms in social media.
It's a war for (or against) the control of human culture and knowledge.

Hello from my brand new #Snac instance running as a #FastCGI on a cheap shared hosting.. without FastCGI support!
Turns out all you need is good old cgi-fcgi and a starter script. I'll send you a PR with a proper example as soon as possible.
I think this shows how Snac is the cheapest and easiest to install #fediverse server, lowering the bar to self-hosting #privacy friendly instances for schools, group of friends or families.
And using it from #fedilab is just as easy as any other instance.
