My eyes can’t tell a difference. I have a 75 inch aQLED, But my parents just got a 78 inch OLED 4k and it’s pretty incredible. I can’t imagine justifying the price for 6K thinking I would be able to notice.

I totally agree, I use signal for daily driver with the people I trust, I use simplex/threema for others.

Sure, I understand different tools for different use cases, yet people as a whole will gravitate towards what ever is easiest. So meeting people in the real world and swapping contacts, we do that in many ways, when we are at conferences, telegram is the place that is suggested to me most often to contact.
This is purely out of convenience. This is where I find issue.
Humans are creatures of convenience.
Look at any grass in the city and you’ll usually find a dirt path cutting through it, while there is a perfectly good paved path to protect the grass and keep it nice next to it.
It doesn’t matter what the defined use cases are people will use it in whatever way is most convenient.
My point this morning was I wasn’t expecting to see signal under attack for enabling privacy by default for millions of people. My mom understands signal. My grandma understands signal. This is why it is effective.

Ok now how many of you actually do that? Facebook is social media, yet 2.1 billion people communicate with messenger as part of their daily private messenger.
If we don’t make privacy by default, then we find that people will use whatever is most convenient, even if it means giving away their privacy.
What you said is all valid and these are ways to use it without compromising your privacy, but the average person does not and will not think about it until it too late.

the way the web of trust works is friends and friends of friends so as people join and see offers the network begins to scale.
If Bob knows Pam and you know Bob you can trade with Pam. if you guys share the same favourite pub or pizza delivery place you both know the restaurant so you can trade with each other.
it will start to grow, every marketplace was empty in the beginning! if you wanna buy post an offer there, if you want to sell get that offer there and the next person that joins your WOT sees them!

Bitcoin applications take time and developing a new web of trust takes years. Phone numbers are something we already share and have for years with a web of trust. You only see offers from people inside that web of trust. Someone doesn’t need to be on vexl to b e in your WOT.
The numbers are encrypted locally on your device. Only the hashes are sent.
I really encourage you to think about it more and read more, we are fully open-source. Funded by donations only and just received a grant from open sats.
We are building something that we want to use, we are cypherpunks, privacy is the right to selectively reveal yourself, and we want to create a tool that enables that for everyone.

The ability to buy peer to peer non kyc bitcoin is an educational tool. Why not tell a normie what’s important about it bitcoin and what bitcoin is and what it means by being a peer to peer electronic cash rather then having them participate in a financial transaction that leaves a digital finger print. It’s a different way of thinking that needs to be taught. Cash has been vilified because it’s inconvenient but not anymore…. That’s what Bitcoin as it was intended…..
