I have mixed feeling on this. Transparency is important, but it’s also important to remember that not only did the government steal and sell the bitcoin they seized from Silk Road, but federal agents decided to do crimes on their own and steal some for themselves. We always expected that someone would eventually come around with a donation for Ross, and it’s easy to imagine why that someone wouldn’t want to be identified, whether it’s actually him or not.

I talked to the business director of the franchise. She was very new to bitcoin but seemed interested at least in learning about our community and the level of passion we’re bringing to them. I think this was kind of sprung on them suddenly and they weren’t prepared for it.
Remember that in a franchise business each location is independently owned and operated, so it’s more decentralized than a chain that’s completely run by the corporate headquarters. This location also didn’t use the order kiosks like the kind that @npub1csa…z4x9 showed us in St. Louis. They just had an iPad with the Speed POS app on it.
At this point, it’s up to bitcoiners to decide to keep up the momentum. If we choose to spend fiat at stores that accept bitcoin, they will eventually lose interest and the exporter will fail.

I was trying to explain the difference between Nostr and “decentralized” crypto social networks to someone the other day and I boiled it down to this:
Everything else assumes you already have a wallet like MetaMask and it forces you to connect it before you can even sign up, or you have to use an email address or even attach a centralized profile from another service to verify your identity.
On Nostr, by comparison, you just create a keypair. That’s it.
Sure, you’ll probably get pestered by everyone to add a Lightning address to your profile, but it’s entirely up to you if you want to be paid in the world’s best money for your stupid shitposts. 😆
