By being valued at 12 Bitcoins. That means the house has outperformed Bitcoin.
When the house was bought:
1 Bitcoin = $100k
1 house = 10 BTC = $1m
After 2 years
1 Bitcoin = $200k
1 house = 12 BTC = $2.4m
That means the house has outperformed Bitcoin. Even if there's no dollar in the world anymore, the house will have outperformed Bitcoin if the exchange rate is 12 BTC instead of 10

Under the Bitcoin standard, people will still borrow Bitcoins to buy houses or other assets. These loans will be cheap, like 0.5% rather than 5% and they will have high liquidation penalties.
Example: You have 5 Bitcoins and you want to buy a house worth 10 Bitcoins. The market value for this house right now is 10 Bitcoins. The loan issuer will happily accept the house as collateral and give you the loan. You both agree to use a market analyst who estimates the value of the house at any time. Right now it is 10 Bitcoins. And you agree to liquidate the house if the debt value + liquidation penalty (say 1 Bitcoin) > the value of the house.
You are now 5 Bitcoins in debt with 5% interest rate.
You are right to assume that the value of the house COULD go down in value with respect to Bitcoin over time if the value of Bitcoin keeps going up. In 2 years, say the market analyst says the value of the house is 5.5 Bitcoins and you are still 4.5 Bitcoins in debt. You made a bad investment.
So this triggers a liquidation where the issuer sells your house for 5.5 Bitcoins and will keep the entire amount as the penalty is 1 Bitcoin.
I don't see a problem here. Do you?
Ideally you do not want to buy a house by borrowing Bitcoin unless you believe the house will outperform Bitcoin in 10 years. Which might happen by the way, Bitcoin cannot keep going up with respect to every other asset in the world. Some real estate will definitely outperform Bitcoin once it reaches the $100T range.
Now, why would you take a loan in Bitcoin? Because there are no other currencies in the world still standing. The issuers will only issue loans in Bitcoin. Because the issuer does not want to hold any other currencies.
The Bitcoin standard will fix everything. Ahahaha

Yes. It is a problem. The notion in the Bitcoin land is that people should HODL bitcoin. Never spend it. If everyone holds bitcoin, who's transacting? Even then fees were $5-$10 before the oridinals craze.
Now I have traveled around some third world countries in Asia, South America, Africa and even Eastern Europe. Let me tell you, no one is using the main Bitcoin network for day to day transactions. $5 per transaction is absurd. They are using centralized solutions.
Only people from the first world countries were using Bitcoin to transact. Lightning does not scale as well, we all know it. We need better solutions.
Keeping the fees down socially by shunning the gamblers is not the solution and infact is a problem as miners will slowly move on. Bitcoin was built on economic incentives, not social.

Bitcoin has very limited blockspace. It is not meant for people transferring 100s of $. It's meant for much larger transactions. The only way you'll transact on Bitcoin is if the value you get out of this transaction is worth more than the fees you're paying.
So when the Bitcoin network is used to buy 100 BTC worth of Oil from the UAE, they do not care/about the $100 transaction fees.
1. We need transactions to generate enough revenue for the miners. (Pls tell me if you disagree on this). Else, miners cannot be profitable and will move on to doing other things. Then Bitcoin mining will become a lot cheaper and the price will spiral down with many 51% attacks.
2. There isn't enough demand for the blockspace by pure transactors alone right now. But there is demand for other speculative assets that are put on Bitcoin. Thus, there are more transactions happening right now to create and buy these useless things. a good thing.
3. Anything can be bought and sold using bitcoin. It is similar to buying and selling drugs using Bitcoin, are we against it? Are we against Russians using Bitcoin? No. Why are you against people gambling on Bitcoin? It is a free network.
4. Gambling is not Bitcoin's problem to solve. Trading these useless things is a zero-sum game. People will most likely lose their bitcoins. It needs to be solved by us as a community. We should be against gambling on any chain.
5. With these things in mind, we should things that are valuable enough to justify $1000 transactions. Whether it is an L2 block that amortizes transaction fees among a lot of people and settles on Bitcoin or someone that wants to put an image on Bitcoin for history to remember. It should be allowed.
To your point, we shouldnt keep the fees low because we want people from third world countries to transact on Bitcoin. We should scale Bitcoin to accommodate all of their transactions. Scaling is done by building L2s that are more valuable than trading runes or ordinals. So the value you generate by enabling thousands of people to use Bitcoin will be greater than the mere $500 transaction fees.

Its true. Miners need enough revenue to keep competing and keep the difficulty high. With every halving, miners revenue is cut in half.
Bitcoin price will keep going up, you can say, but USD is a shitcoin, if we don't generate enough BITCOIN revenue for the miners, the hashrate will keep falling and we will be more and more vulnerable to nation state attacks.

I have a few ideas for automated moderation but they are too complex. Vanilla moderation of certain topics will lead to the problems faced by reddit communities today. A community is basically subject to the biases of the moderators.
So if we have Nostr as a topic and the moderators believe in the concept of "grant based funding", what if they filter out all the notes that suggest venture funding?

I see this as an identity problem in general rather than a Nostr relay problem. If you can ban an npub, that person can create another one. We need to ban the person or an AI that's posting.
Worldcoin offers a solution to scan all the unique humans on Earth to solve this problem along with the human vs AI problem. But there are 8 billion people on earth. And Worldcoin accounts are as cheap as $20. It doesn't solve the identity problem in my opinion. Plus, not everyone will scan their eyeballs.
I think we should identify people based on the most scarce possession on Earth. Bitcoin.
I want to propose "Proof of Bitcoin". If you ban a Bitcoin balance, its much much harder for a scammer or an illegal content poster to save enough bitcoin to post again.

This is a problem we all foresaw. We will have these kind of spammers of illegal content and scam links as replies to legit posts. Twitter hasn't solved this problem either.
The only solution to this is to fix the identity problem on social media. Definitely not suggesting Worldcoin like solutions but something better.

Don't get me wrong. I love Monero. But we don't need Monero like anonymity for everyday life. Bitcoin is good enough to stay anonymous. We can have different identities on Bitcoin. You do not mix those identities on social media or on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin has value because miners mine blocks to make changes to a ledger of who owns how much money in the world. A global ledger of everyone's balance. And millions of people believe in this ledger. A fixed supply is a feature of Bitcoin. Its not the whole thing. "Store of value" is just one of the narratives of Bitcoin.
I want to write about why Bitcoin will be used as the default currency in the world. There's this another narrative. Bitcoin is the aligner of energy. Something that's not talk about enough. I will have to write an article about it to make it convincing.
We don't have a deadline for our bet ;).
