355 clients connected to the relay simultaneously and so far, it hasn’t even broken a sweat 😎
I’ve run local tests with thousands of open sockets, of course—but experience has taught me that production is a whole different beast.
I’ve gone through every emotional stage with this relay: from sheer euphoria to seriously considering wiping my nsec, giving away anything with a screen, and moving to the countryside to grow tomatoes.

Los blobs cifrados, a pesar de ser un concepto magnifico, son peligrosos para un servidor blossom publico.
Nostrcheck-server permite agregar mas tipos de archivo soportados, lo ideal seria que cada pequeña comunidad tuviera un servidor nostrcheck (nostraddress blossom y relay) y subieran ahi sus datos.
Que cualquiera guarde datos cifrados en un servidor publico (aun que sea de pago) es simplemente algo a lo que los incentivos no están alineados.
Alguna idea? 🤓

Sure, you can use strfry by limiting it to the kinds you need, and that's it. It's a very fast and lightweight relay (it does consume memory, but I don't think your case will scale to millions of events).

A fast and lightweight relay, in my opinion, fundamentally depends on the number of events it stores. Any relay is fast with 10,000 events.
So, I’d say any relay would work, especially if you’re filtering by just a few specific kinds.

I’m almost done with the new relay for nostrcheck-server, currently experimenting with search extensions.
So far, it’s stable and fast with 3,000,000 events loaded into memory. I had to fine-tune every operation to avoid bottlenecks across the system.
Querying such a large dataset is inherently slow, but on top of that, the relay has to handle hundreds of simultaneous requests over open WebSockets.
To tackle this, the relay currently runs with a pool of n workers and a processing queue for heavy tasks.
It’s fully compatible with all relevant NIPs. Not designed for 100 million events yet, but more than capable of efficiently handling community-scale needs.
I’m sure I’m running into the same problems others have already solved, but I’m doing it anyway—because this is Nostr. We have to keep 500 incomplete and incompatible clients connecting to 500 incomplete and incompatible relays, otherwise, what are we even doing here? 🤣🤓

I’ve been receiving warning messages about a misconfigured Lightning redirection. It belongs to a pubkey registered on nostrcheck.me. I’ve tried reaching out via DMs, notifying them so they can fix it, but I haven’t received any response. Meanwhile, I keep receiving these errors daily.
Since I have backend access, I could manually change this redirection to a valid LN address. However, this raises some ethical and practical questions:
Do I have the legitimacy to do this?
Who or what organization should these sats be redirected to?
Should I leave the error as is indefinitely, or should I find a better place for these sats?
Would it be acceptable to temporarily redirect them to a valid LN address and hold them until I get a response?
My first instinct is to leave everything untouched, but I’d love to hear Nostr’s thoughts on this 🤓

Working on the relay has been the most exciting thing in recent months. I love reading each NIP carefully and trying to ensure that the relay scrupulously follows the specification.
For now, I’m loading events into memory in a strfry style, but I’m obsessed with performance and want something even better.
Nostrcheck-Server will be complete (at least what I always envisioned) with the next version. What I never expected was that the relay would take center stage 👀
These are interesting times we’re living in, proud to be part of all this, in my own way, #nostr style 😅🤣

By the way, nostrcheck-server is already compatible with this BUD, allowing sats to be received (by both the server owner and the pubkey who uploaded the file) for file uploads/downloads. Once more clients implement this, it will be fully activated 🤓

BUD-07 outlines generating a 402 status code for the GET method when attempting to access a blob. To implement what you’re suggesting, it could be as simple as providing a dedicated URL (like a “tips” endpoint), where the server would return a 402 HTTP status code along with a X-Lightning or X-Cashu header. If the client is a browser, it would require a third-party extension/app like Alby to handle the payment.
As far as I see it, there shouldn’t be any major obstacles, as long as we adhere to (and maybe stretch a little 🤣) the BUD guidelines.
