The 'sins' have come from those that care about their own motivations, paying for things using money from those that they don't actually care about - an overly broad generalization, but we're just some amorphous blob of 'people' providing funds. Their obligation however is to also use that money to provide assistance in return to that amorphous blob of individuals with conflicting interests, so there is less incentive to keep the quality high at a high resolution when they don't actually see the broad spectrum of individuals and their lived experience.
Its okay to have centralized leadership, but the system breaks down when its communication channels fail (or when parts of the system choose to not adhere to surrounding system signals). The brain in charge of the nervous system functions very well to keep the body alive, but it must also trust that the body can do what it expects through the signals it sends. We built governments to act like centralized control imposing will and dictating actions, but natural systems operate differently. Signals are sent down a chain with trust that they will effectively know what to do, but that presupposes good communication channels and good trust in the system's components to act.

Interacting with an AI leaves imprints on your own personality, just like calculators have simultaneously allowed us to do massive calculations while also diminishing our mental math capabilities. Its a very dense book but also well written 😵‍💫🫣 if you spend some time with it the ideas come into focus. There's lots of gold there.
My interpretation goes something like this, which relates to earlier ideas in the book.
There is the Natural world, and there is Our (first person) world.
We can only understand the Natural world through our first person sensations. Our senses activate from the differences we feel and the relationships we've mapped (approximate cause and effect) between sensations. In actuality what it means is that we can't grasp causality in the natural world, but the cause and effect of sensations. I see clouds in the sky and expect to feel wet if I'm outside.
If the world was uniform, there is nothing to observe. Also, because we observe the world through our senses, we are limited at getting to any fundamental Truths.
The interesting thing happens when we move from working with direct sensations and use those relationships in isolation. Formal systems take the relationships we've acquired from our senses into sets of rules to experiment around with for their own sake. And because formal systems ultimately come from abstracting our sensations, they aren't Natural. Anything 'rule' based is not actually natural, but instead an approximation. Its important to recognize the map isn't the territory, confusing the two gets problematic whenever we use the rules derived on the map that don't actually exist in the real world. At the same time, we should be creating and using effective maps.

1000 seems way more managable than any relay trying to become nostr's one biggest server. I'd say that's the best and simplest starting point - 1 relay per community.
The more complicated versions would be something like 10 relays that allow mixing of communities. So 10 people "ultimately in charge" because they own the relay and have the strongest decisions, with lots of smaller communities with different moderators and rules for what's allowed. This is a more difficult problem, but helps keep responsibility managable.
Communities have their own rules for posting, but still need to comply with whatever the relay operators' rules. If the communities don't like those rules, they can go to a different set of relays just like individual users.

We do have some document conversion plans in the future!
Not too sure about a djuvu workflow but pandoc supports many types of conversion, and we use Asciidoc for our client. If you can find an epub version, that's a pretty nice format to convert from.
In general, I think of pdfs as a 'terminal object' in the sense that if you need to do any document converting, do it before converting to pdf. Because once you're there, its a messy pain to change it to anything else.

Its a weird thing with relays.
Its a very wide guess, but what might have happened:
1) when you logged in, nostrnests couldn't find your profile data so it looked through multiple relays
2) It found older profile data on a relay that didn't update to your most recent one
3) rather than go through the looking process again which takes some time, it published your profile relays that it usually looks through to be faster. This creates a new profile event
4) your normal relays on Damus found this "new profile" and updated because was published most recently.

3) What devices have you your nsec stored? Might any of them be compromised?
