Yes I tried one of the ambernic ones that resembles a gameboy with trigger buttons
I bought it from ambernic directly (as direct as possible anyway) and it didn't come with any games I had to supply them.
People try to sell the same thing with their own ROM collection preset up with Temu, AliExpress, or tiktok shop but that looks so sketchy. Hardware on the ambernic is legit tho

There was a single post on this blog about setting up Mumble listening rooms that I've followed every time I reinstall mumble server. I use it to create listening rooms for a live audience in Mumble for when I'm recording my podcast. So on twitter StutteringCraig (creator of ScrewAttack) announced he was going to make a video game awards show to compete with Dorito Pope's 'The Game Awards'.
What's different is instead doing all the nominations and voting via unelected media insiders hes gonna let the gamers vote and nominate based on a pricing tier. Starting at $60 a year just to vote.
Doesn't that remind you of something? The people yearn for V4V but dont know about what we already have.
Craig has since walked back that initial price down to $30 (USD btw). The promise to deliver something isnt the same thing as actually delivering something so its not quite V4V.
I think we can do better.
Someone should make a NIP for a vote and nomination system.

This happened on Mastodon multiple times as well. Something happens on twitter and theres a huge exodus but they never stay
I believe the biggest reason for that is because the people exodusing there aren't that interesting and without algorithms and pre-elon Twitter's moderation they just dont get any attention or social authority. For example George Takei - he landed on some random mastodon server run by some dude. What a nightmare. Takei is on bluesky now lol

So I liked armored core 6 a lot and decided to go marathon my way through the old games. Both the ones ive put 100s of hours in as a kid and the ones I couldn't play (I was poor)
So far ive beaten AC1, Phantasma, and Master of Arena, and now AC2. Going to Another Age next

Ok I caved and got kiwibrowser on my android phone so I can install nos2x and actually approve posts here
I still main Amethyst but I promise to check often. Wish I could just turn off this post approval business. If its any consolation when you post into a Nostr group your follows see it in real time with the group linked in the UX so its not like nobody saw it. I just need to approve posts so people browsing the group see it too

To be fair tho, this version is like a reddit clone. Posting into a group resembles posting into a subreddit
Meanwhile groups on gsoc (which is the standard we have been holding AP to) were more like a way to tag a bunch of people who opt-in to the group and you just slip the group tag into your normal public post. Imagine a twitter hashtag but using it notifies some people

This positive attitude about building stuff is really great to see on Nostr and it does not exist on the fediverse at all. Since most ActivityPub implementations are heavy it's unreasonable to expect most users to self host. So people tend to gather into communities based on their chosen instance (think: website they are actually using). The different AP implementations really only work together in spite of each other, and there's endless drama about what your chosen AP software says about you, be you a contributor, administrator, or just a user.
For example, here's some hilarious beef I saw today between Mastodon instances. The instance mastodon.art is notorious for blocking an absurd number of instances, to the point where artists looking to get commissioned work should really not post there. They wrote this blog post about how they are defederating from another growing instance because they implemented text based search (for public posts) and a few other less important complaints:

You heard that right. This is about the indexing of publicly available posts. As though it's some kind of terrible harassment tool. Remember that ActivityPub supports followers-only posts and follow approvals. Consider also this instance is for artists, who WANT to be found.
That's just drama between Mastodon instances. When it comes to the other implementations it gets even more insufferable. ActivityPub is a protocol like Nostr, but people building on Nostr actually like each other. Celebrate that.

Weirdly, open source nostr client Current has a TOS that prohibits the posting of porn and other things, threatening to cut off access to the app if discovered (how would they anyway?)
Meanwhile closed source app Plebstr has no TOS at all, no EULA, nothing. It just werks

If you already gave them your credit card number I guess buy BTC there and send it to yourself after getting a lightning wallet. Thats what I did initially

What you need is a lightning wallet
You also need a means to fill it, which I guess that site can so. It would be simpler to use one of those nicer wallets that have something built-in to buy BTC with. Like Fountain or Wallet of Satoshi - which I think both use Moonpay
