I had another incredible day with #FacesOfTomorrow - our team did 10 complex cleft lip and palate repairs on kids aged 1 to 22. Left for the hospital around 645 and got back to our hotel around 7pm.
This experience has been so fucking refreshing. I’m realizing how burnt out I was practicing in the US. Here I’m getting to practice pure medicine without any of the red tape and bullshit I’m used to. Even though our resources are extremely limited, we’re practicing at a level that rivals care in many US hospitals. And, it’s the most fun I’ve had in years working with these dedicated docs and nurses on the team. I don’t normally do pediatrics, so getting to work with kids again has been a blast. I told my wife today I might go back and do a peds anesthesia fellowship. She wasn’t thrilled 😂
Plus, the cherry on top this trip was getting back to my hotel WiFi and realizing bitcoin hit $50k. Maybe one day I’ll be able to do more mission work than fiat mining. 🎉
