Well I'm not sure what's going on now. I did a short S.M.A.R.T. data test and it reported back that no problems were found. I then launched a long test and it doesn't sound (?) Like the drive is doing anything but it is spinning at least.

So I check smartctl and it says two things
1) the S.M.A.R.T. long test is in progress
2) this device does not support S.M.A.R.T.

Filesystem damage detected. Gonna try and run the disks repair tool. If that doesn't work I'll try assessing it with something lower level. Bad sector scan I guess.

idk anything about disk repair maybe I'm doing this in backwards order
