Hot Karla's Korn Klub (nprofile…4w83) This is definitely true in a lot of ways, Ancient Chinese is a super ambiguous language, in a sort of primitive caveman way. A lot of the words are full of strange mixed symbolism that blends into each other. The first passage of the DDJ for example would literally be something like "Way that is wayed goes against regular way," which frankly makes no fucking sense on its own and requires a lot of effortful interpretation and a lot of context from the rest of the work and surrounding works to make sense. There's also a lot of commentary on it throughout the centuries, but it's impossible to know how much of this commentary and how much of our modern understanding is a tradition we project on an ambiguous text and how much of it is an accurate reading.
