Arthur N. Plummer, AKA A. Newton Plummer, was indicted in January 1932 for "Forgery" along with eight others. His crime was paying newspaper reporters to publish positive stories about companies to encourage investors to purchase shares of their stock. He was doing this as a paid publicist for these companies and their promoters. #history #law #journalism
