On a related note: the plural of the word octopus. It's a Greek word so it can't be *"octopi,"* that would be applying Latin grammar.
Some suggest *"octopodes"* but my issue with that is it's just plural for a completely different word, *"octopod(e),"* which is a synonym for octopus. Similarly to how the plural of hexapod is hexapods.
So I'll just keep saying octopuses, I guess.
