Mistakes happen when you deviate from the standard operating procedure and do something different. That is not what happened in this case. They just did what they have already done to thousands of people, including thousands of children. It is only becasue of the different religion of the victims that they are calling this particular action a mistake.
Also it is hard to call what they are now doing “defense” so IDF is a propaganda name.
