It's one reason I'm not fond of linear rails. Sure, when they're good, they're great, but when they're bad, they're _really_ bad. Also, the cost of good linear rails is way, _way_ higher than good rods and bearings. Plus, stainless steel rods are something you can get in basically any metal shop easily.
