So “table” as in a listing of numbers, why is it named like the furniture?
it turns out it is the other way around, and tablet is a small table; and a table, is a board with grid lines on it, for numbers to go on. In france it became common to put legs on these when you’re using them for games.
so table top games aren’t named after tables
tables are named after table top games.
