- You can't give away what you don't have.
- No one owns the human genome or their family's genetic tendencies.
If you don't own it then what you have given away was theft. (as far as abstract property rights)
From a nature perspective, absolutely. You have it, and you can give it away. But if we were operating from a strictly nature perspective then I could not acknowledge the abstract property rights and destroy any copy I see fit.
So it's a matter of perspective.
