I put off a grocery top-up visit this afternoon, figuring the payment terminals would probably be down. Looking at my list I realised the only thing I had actually run out of was apples. Then I remembered the picnic area outside here has an apple tree sapling gamely trying to grow into a tree. It may only be four foot tall but it sports half a dozen apples a year. So I went and picked an apple to eat and felt I’d taken the digital apocalypse to its logical next stage: foraging.
