It absolutely sucks that this was forced on us without any reasonable dialogue, just “Follow our rules because we say so.”
I’m glad we can use zapplepay (npub1wxl…hcan) and I really hope jb55 (npub1xts…kk5s) and the damus (npub18m7…q955) crew can overcome this obstacle down the road because it’s just too good of an app to abandon. I got an Android recently so I can play around with different clients, but nothing has convinced me to make a complete switch at this point.
I remain hopeful because back in 2014 Apple blocked most #bitcoin wallets from the App Store but later reversed that policy. What needs to happen now are probably some high-level conversations between prominent entrepreneurs in bitcoin and the team at Apple to show them what zaps are and why this core part of the #nostr experience can’t be replaced with a debit card running on fiat rails.
