2. What books/resources ...? Which ones do you recommend?
I've read many books because I came to writing without knowing anything about the craft. I learned a lot but it also stifled me. There are all these formulas and trying to apply them just didn't work for me. But having the knowledge is good.
Books: Steering the craft by Ursula LeGuin, the emotion and other thesauri by Angela Ackerman et al, KM Weiland's books on structure and character arcs... and so on.
