On a proper operating system like Linux, the analog hole isn't necessary, because you can record sound out of one program into another quite easily.
On Mac OS X, you have to use a custom sound device like SoundFlower as a pipe between programs (cheating).
You haven't been able to do this in Windows since Vista, although there may be a hacky way as well, I'm not certain.
I don't think DRM crap like WideVine have any means to prevent video screen capture.
