Peter Thiel lays out the three paths for the future that he sees.
1) Sharia Law 2) Totalitarian AI 3) Hyper environmentalism
This is incomplete.
Think of a simple political compass. 1 is effectively Blue. That could be Sharia Law or a reversion to extreme Nationalism with any religion at the core.
2 is clearly Red. He references China and realistically this is the path Western uniparty systems are seeking to traverse.
3 is Green. It fits near perfectly with environmentalist movement where everything is a contradiction, they want freedom to be gay communists and to destroy capitalism and that is the tension to the Overton window of 2.
Where is the Yellow panel? Where is 4?
This vision is erroneously missing from Thiel’s calculus.
Not because it doesn’t exist, rather, it hasn’t got nearly the traction of the first 3. It’s not in his field of vision for that reason.
The 4th path is Hyperbitcoinisation. It’s 100,000 Lichtensteins where we fuck off these monolithic nation states and revert to more localised systems with strong property rights and minimal interventionism.
It’s Bitcoiners going from a scattering of individuals into an organised vision which not only negates 1-3, but can pull others into their orbit by offering normies a positive identity to adopt.
Bitcoin has the economics down, what it lacks is the social and political to truly scale. It cannot be plugged into fiat systems or these 3 visions - except Sharia, it could feasibly work there or at least provide the Overton window tension - it needs its own vision and future.
