NYC doesn't want anyone to be anomalous. It wants to assimilate people and suppress any unusual personality traits.
I've been saying we're going into civil war for years. Is this the city instinctively preparing for that? Strategically wanting to feel more unified, get along better, and be primed for aggressive responses to disruptions of peace?
It makes sense, but it's also authoritarian and ruins some people's lives.
Surviving a civil war is good, but a better way to survive would be better. Maybe this stuff can be solved someday.
