only reason i mentioned libinput was because i remember hearing that sm1 got burnt out porting it to netBSD as it meant having to rewrite chunks of code to be less linux-keycode centric.
While I forgot/ellided the weston car thing: the lack of the extendable server+tight integration w/dbus|ibm/rh tech, is closer to macos/winnt desktops in my mind because of the vertical integration and lack of ability to rip out WM/Compositor as they merge into 1 binary
