Plus, to save money, he'd keep the A/C pretty high, even in FL. Dont think it usually went below 74 or 76F. Hot as hell. Luckily when I got older, I had a separate room on the side of the detached garage and a box A/C in the wall I'd CRANK. But then I'd need a dehumidifier to get all the moisture from the air. I'd fill it every night from air-water. It's gross down there. Even wife's parents keep their A/C like 77 or 78 here. It's fuckin nuts
