Coincidentally, just now at work while looking for potential new contract opportunities, I just came across a notice from the Scottish Government which is looking to procure up to 40 cetacean click detectors. The requirements are:
• Enclosure is watertight and device is depth rated to at least 200 m;
• Must be capable of autonomous operation (using either rechargeable or disposable batteries) as external power will not be available;
• Each unit must be of a suitable size and dimensions, with sufficient power and memory capacity to allow autonomous deployment on stand-alone moorings for a minimum of 6 months.
• Capable of recording the echo-location clicks from dolphins, porpoises and other toothed whales;
• Capable of detecting boat sonars and offer metrics of noise.
• Each unit should have a real-time clock or ability to set the time.
• Display design features which facilitate secure mooring via cable ties (e.g. grooves or holes).
