"content": "My slow crawl away from Matrix and its various bridges back to just using Telegram and Google Messages continues and I'm not happy about it :blobcorgi_pout: I would rather have an end-to-end encrypted messenger instead of Telegram, and it's still my dream to have all my messengers in one place, but Matrix just isn't there yet and I'm not sure it's ever gonna be. The protocol is a mess where it's bloated in some areas and completely undercooked in others, the apps are all terrible, and Synapse is a complete pain in the ass to work with.\n\nI'd use Signal without the Matrix bridge but A) it's super barebones with a pretty piss-poor app experience in its own right, especially on desktop, B) it's centralized and prone to the same enshittification as everything else, and C) no one else uses it.\n\nI'm not sure what I'm gonna do with my server yet.
