Loads of people (a lot of autistic/spectrum teens and 20's) are into making them and selling them to whoever's interested, even if it's more personal stuff. I've made a couple friends that way. (I'm not into the zine scene really myself, but a friend did this, and it just seemed like a cool thing to do as a kind of alternative "social media.")
