It's not stupid. It's the same in China. I'm not sure what it is, but it's got to me related to like kilter of the Earth or something. Also, the light in China is always a nice warm, golden color (probably because of atmospheric pollution pushing wavelengths down) and everything kind of subtly "glows" in this really beautiful way (also probably due to ambient air pollution causing light to diffuse off suspended particulates). The light in the US is much more "harsh" and definitely more "blue" or "white" in temperature.
