I have no problem with stablecoin proliferation in regions with civilian demand for it. My problem is with bitcoiners who start the sentence with “anarchy is cool” and finish the sentence with “and it’s great that the US will regulate stablecoins because it will reinforce demand for treasuries” (and therefore dollar hegemony).

The US isn’t regulating stablecoins for the good of the Nigerian individual. It’s to retrench the dollar’s role as reserve currency and expand a corrupt government’s power further than it already reaches today. And yet a not-small number of “public bitcoiner voices” are cheering it on, hoping the bills pass.

I don’t see how it helps Bitcoin.
