The read-only CD backup is a clever idea. The shelf-life of optical discs isn't terribly long but could be a good fit for this use case. 🧡
I'm comfortable with validating the SeedSigner (nprofile…xe5k) firmware before use, then loading that into the device memory. I also like to keep the validated OS version on a read-only CD backup.
