This is exactly how love is taught by Jesus. It's selfless / not related to how you feel. Love is a decision on how to treat people because they have value and not because of how they value you.
One doesn't need to receive value from other people to be able to love them, nor to be loved, because God loves us - we are loved.
# 1Cor13:4-8

> love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely,

We love because we love ❤️ not because of how others feel. It’s just who we are.
My mother will always remain one of the most physically beautiful women I’ve ever seen ( up close ) as they said in a movie.
But she’s mentally incapable of loving me in the way a mother should. It took me many years but finally went no contact. When my beloved grandmother died I didn’t go to her funeral. Spoke with my GM ahead of time & she understood.
We can love people from afar. It doesn’t mean they get our energy nor attention.

In every timeline … I’d like to say that but the truth is we grow in all seasons. Hmm 🧐 In this current life: I would have to have a partner. Maybe that’s why I’m single. Loving someone I’m not with. Probably not best choice 🫂
