I don't see how "being cowards" and "risking their jobs and the election by asking for a new candidate" are the same thing.
As I said, the easiest hypothesis is that the Biden we saw in the debates is actually Biden, and they're scared shitless that he can't win the election because he's doddering.
Everyone should be terrified of the prospect that Trump might win.
