I think physically we go on, in another form - stardust, compost, whatever, and our energy, including consciousness, dissipates back into the universe. Maybe there’s awareness, in the way trees and stones are aware, but not in the way I am now. It might take some time for that to happen, so the human energy sticks around in a cohesive way for a short time.
