The tax point is why I redefined it to medium of exchange to clarify imntalking about underlying properties not current tax treatment.
Money eventually becomes all of the properties of money. Store of value, medium of exchange then eventually priced in the money.
Eventually all the Fiat currencies will have the same problem: if no one stores their value in it non one will have any of the currency to use as a medium of exhange.
Now thatcanb be frompeople just not using it anymore or from hyper inflation where its value is so low that no one can.

Also currencies are networks. The dollar is a network of payment systems and future liabilities. Its what entrenches it.
