I feel like the web has gone really off the rails and is a total mess. It used to be that you could download a page with curl, look at the source and grab the things you needed from the source. Now that's usually not possible as there's so much JS that creates the real content. I feel the web needs to be burned to the ground and loaded from a working backup 20 years ago.
